Last summer in Amherst, NY, ten Massachusetts forwards skated at the 2025 USA Boys National 15 Camp. They combined for 16 goals, 15 assists, and 31 points across six days. Jamie Calla led the group with 8 points. Jack Queally had 4. Robert Dekleine had 4. It was the strongest forward showing from any state.

One year later, three of those ten are gone.

Jack Queally
NTDP U17
2025 Camp: 4 pts (0G, 4A)
Sam Lee
NTDP U17
2025 Camp: 3 pts (0G, 3A)
Blake Wilichoski
Tendered — Cedar Rapids
2025 Camp: 3 pts (2G, 1A)

Queally and Lee are at the NTDP in Plymouth, Michigan. Wilichoski was tendered by Cedar Rapids and did not try out for this year's Festival. Combined, they accounted for 10 of the 31 points Massachusetts forwards produced at last year's camp. That's a third of the offense — gone.

Which means at least three forward spots are open. And the players competing for them this weekend know it.

The math: 10 Massachusetts forwards made the 2025 National 15 Team. 3 are gone. 7 return to Festival. 44 total forwards are competing this weekend. At least 3 spots need to be filled — and the players who fill them will have earned it against the deepest forward group Massachusetts has ever produced.

2025 National 15 Camp — Massachusetts Forwards

Here's how the Massachusetts forwards performed at last year's camp in Amherst, NY (July 16-21, 2025), ranked by points:

Every single returning forward from last year's camp was drafted in the USHL. All seven. That's not a coincidence — these are proven players at the highest level. But the three departures create real opportunity for new names to break through.

The Returning Seven — 2025 National 15 Forwards

Jamie Calla 18 prep pts • 8 camp pts
Governors Academy • Islanders HC • Royal • Lynnfield
Led all Massachusetts forwards at last year's National 15 camp with 8 points — 6 goals and 2 assists. Nobody from any state scored more at that position. Then he put up 18 points in the prep season at Governors Academy and was a 1st Team All-Mass selection. Despite all of that, he wasn't drafted until Round 15 by Sioux Falls. Calla has been proving people wrong for 12 months. This weekend is another chance.
2025 National 15 Camp Leader: 8 pts USHL → Sioux Falls 1st Team All-Mass
Robert Dekleine 20 prep pts • 4 camp pts
Belmont Hill • Flames • Red • Westborough
Second among returning forwards in camp production with 4 points (3G, 1A). Then exploded for 20 points at Belmont Hill — a 1st Team All-Mass season. Drafted by Sioux City in Round 7. Dekleine elevated his stock more than any forward in the class between last summer and this spring.
2025 National 15 Camp: 4 pts USHL → Sioux City 1st Team All-Mass
Carter Felt 34 prep pts • 3 camp pts
Rivers School • River Rats • White • Natick
Had 3 points at last year's camp. Then went out and scored 34 points in the prep season — the #2 scorer in the entire Massachusetts 2010 class. Drafted by Cedar Rapids in Round 4. Felt's growth from camp to prep season was extraordinary. He arrives at Festival as a completely different player than the one who left Amherst last July.
2025 National 15 Camp: 3 pts USHL → Cedar Rapids 1st Team All-Mass
Michael Barrett 23 prep pts • 2 camp pts
Phillips Andover • River Rats • Gray • Lynnfield
Quiet at camp with 2 points. Then delivered a 23-point season at Phillips Andover — 1st Team All-Mass. Drafted by Madison in Round 10. Barrett is a player whose game translates best when he has time and space, and the prep season gave him exactly that.
2025 National 15 Camp: 2 pts USHL → Madison 1st Team All-Mass
Owen Lundin 6 prep pts • 2 camp pts
Lawrence Academy • Flames • Red • Marlborough
Two goals at camp. Six points in the prep season at Lawrence Academy. Drafted by Omaha in Round 8. Lundin's stats are modest, but USHL scouts and National Team evaluators keep selecting him — which tells you his game goes beyond the scoresheet.
2025 National 15 Camp: 2 pts USHL → Omaha
Austin Wu 14 prep pts • 1 camp pt
Dexter Southfield • Flames • Royal • Dedham
One point at camp last summer. Then 14 points at Dexter Southfield and a 1st Team All-Mass selection. Drafted by Tri-City in Round 4. Wu's development curve from last summer to this spring is exactly what the National Team program is designed to identify.
2025 National 15 Camp: 1 pt USHL → Tri-City 1st Team All-Mass
Ethan Machado 7 prep pts • 1 camp pt
Cushing Academy • Flames • Gray • Wayland
One assist at camp. Seven points in a NEPSAC Championship season at Cushing Academy. Drafted by Dubuque in Round 11. Machado is a Flames player who won a title and got drafted — the trajectory is all upward.
2025 National 15 Camp: 1 pt USHL → Dubuque NEPSAC Champion

The Challengers — Knocking on the Door

These forwards weren't at last year's National 15 camp. They didn't have the credential. But they spent the past 12 months building resumes that demand attention — and with three spots now open, this weekend is their moment.

Drew Gallucci 27 prep pts
Pingree • Islanders HC • Royal • Danvers
Twenty-seven points at Pingree — more than Dekleine, more than Barrett, more than Calla. Gallucci wasn't at last year's camp. He wasn't drafted by the USHL. But he outproduced most of the players who were. A 2nd Team All-Mass selection with Boys Festival credentials, he has the stats to back up any claim for one of those three open spots. This is his weekend.
2nd Team All-Mass
Drew Short 26 prep pts
Winchendon • River Rats • Royal • Lunenburg
NEPSAC Champion. Twenty-six points. Eighteen assists. Short was a playmaker for the River Rats at Nationals and a key piece of Winchendon's championship run. He knows what winning looks like and his 18 assists prove he can see the ice at an elite level. Like Gallucci, he outproduced several returning National players in the prep season.
2nd Team All-Mass NEPSAC Champion
Jameson Needham 20 prep pts
St. Sebastian's • River Rats • White • Woburn
Twenty points at St. Sebastian's and drafted by Waterloo in Round 4. Needham wasn't at last year's National camp but the USHL saw enough to take him in the same round as Felt, Frick, and Wu. His combination of prep production and USHL selection makes him one of the strongest challengers for an open spot.
USHL → Waterloo 2nd Team All-Mass
Owen Frick 12 prep pts
Cushing Academy • Flames • White • Holden
Twelve points at Cushing Academy, NEPSAC Champion, and drafted by Omaha in Round 4 — the first Massachusetts forward off the board. Frick was a National 15 player last year but wasn't among the top scorers at camp. With Queally and Lee gone, his USHL pedigree and Flames development could push him up the depth chart significantly.
2025 National 15 USHL → Omaha NEPSAC Champion
Brayden Erickson 13 prep pts
St. George's • Flames • White • East Longmeadow
A 2025 National 15 selection who put up 13 points at St. George's and was a 2nd Team All-Mass pick. Erickson was a standout for the Flames at USA Hockey Nationals in Green Bay — he showed up in big moments. He wasn't drafted by the USHL, but he has the National Team experience and the compete level to make a case this weekend.

The gold dots mark the returning 2025 USA National 15 forwards. The green USHL column shows which players were drafted. The prep column separates the players State of Hockey tracks from the non-prep selections.

The picture is clear. Seven forwards return from last year's National 15 Team — all seven were drafted by the USHL. Three spots opened up when Queally, Lee, and Wilichoski left the pipeline. The challengers — Gallucci, Short, Needham, Frick, and Erickson — have the production, the credentials, and the hunger to fill those spots. But they're not the only ones competing. Forty-four forwards are at Festival this weekend, and the evaluators are watching all of them.

The 2025-2026 prep season changed everything. The USHL Draft confirmed it. Now the ice decides the rest.
