Day 1 of the 2026 USA Boys National 16 Camp is in the books. Six Massachusetts players got on the score sheet across five games at the Northtown Center. Two of them — Jamie Calla and Robert Dekleine — were the only MA forwards to put up multiple points or score multiple goals last year at the 2025 NAT 15 camp. Both picked up where they left off.
The other four — Owen Frick, Colin Walsh, Jameson Needham, and Tyler Poti — were all first-time campers as of Day 1, and all four ended the day with a point.

Calla and Dekleine: Same Story, New Year
Calla led the entire MA contingent on Day 1 with two goals in Lime's matchup against Grey at 2:15 PM — although Lime fell 8-5. A year ago at the 2025 NAT 15 camp, he scored 6 goals in 5 days — more than any other MA forward — and led the Mass forward group with 8 points. He arrived in Amherst this week with the bragging rights from last year and produced two goals in his first game back, even in a losing effort.
Dekleine added a goal for Royal in the 4:00 PM matchup against Red. He was on Kelly at the 2025 NAT 15 camp and posted 4 points there, tied for second among MA forwards behind Calla. Two players who scored at last year's camp scoring again at this year's camp on Day 1 — not a guarantee, but a meaningful continuation.
The Newcomers: All Four First-Timers Got a Point
Colin Walsh notched a goal for Kelly in the 6:15 PM game against Columbia. Walsh comes to camp off a 35-goal, 19-assist MIAA season at Framingham High School. He was drafted by the Chicago Steel of the USHL and is heading to Rivers School for 2026-27. Getting on the board in his first camp game — first impression made.
Jameson Needham picked up an assist for Navy in the 6:00 PM matchup against Orange — a game with four total MA players on the ice (Needham vs. Barrett, Fishbone, Carlin). Needham comes off a 20-point season at St. Sebastian's.
Tyler Poti picked up an assist for Black in the 4:15 PM matchup against Gold. Poti is the only Mass player on Black this week, putting him on a bigger spotlight every shift. He's returning to Winchendon for 2026-27 after a 17-point season last year.
Owen Frick picked up an assist for Grey in the 2:15 PM matchup against Lime — the same 8-5 game where Calla scored twice for the losing side. Frick was not on the camp roster when USA Hockey's program book went to print — he's a late addition, joining the Cushing Academy contingent that's heading to Master's Academy International this fall along with Brodie Anderson, Ethan Machado, and Owen Lundin. His Day 1 point is the kind of impression a late-add needs to make.

Day 2 begins Saturday at 10:00 AM with Yellow vs. Orange — a six-MA-player game and the first action for Logan Cotter. Other Saturday games: Lime vs. Royal at 10:45 (Calla vs. Anderson and Dekleine), Black vs. Red at 2:30 (Poti vs. Felt and Porter), Kelly vs. Navy at 3:15 (Walsh vs. Needham), Gold vs. Grey at 4:30 (Short vs. Ware, Frick, Wu, Torres).
