A 1.58 goals against average. A .968 save percentage. A perfect 4-0 record in the postseason. And now, a Division 3 Massachusetts State Hockey Championship. Freshman goaltender Ryan McArdle stood on his head all tournament long, backstopping #1-seeded Hanover High School to the state title at TD Garden. The 2010-born netminder and Boston Advantage Prep player was the backbone of Hanover's championship run, and he delivered when it mattered most on the biggest stage in Massachusetts high school hockey.
McArdle's postseason run was nothing short of remarkable for a freshman. Four games. Four wins. A 1.58 GAA and .968 save percentage in elimination hockey. In a state tournament where pressure ratchets up with every game, the 2010-born goaltender was Hanover's backbone, keeping his team in games and giving them a chance to win every night he was between the pipes. That kind of performance in the postseason is what defines a champion.
The stage doesn't get any bigger than TD Garden in Boston, and McArdle rose to the occasion. #1 Hanover took down #3 Medfield on Sunday, March 15, 2026 for the Division 3 Massachusetts State Championship. For a freshman to be the guy in net at the Garden with a state title on the line - and to deliver - is a testament to how much trust Hanover placed in McArdle, and how much he earned every bit of it.
The 2010 class continues to make waves across every level of Massachusetts hockey - from prep school NEPSAC Championships to a state title at the Garden. McArdle joins a growing list of 2010-born players who are proving this birth year is special in Massachusetts high school hockey.
A special shout out to Ryan Kisiel - great nose for the net. The 2009-born, 2027 grad year forward and former Boston Advantage and Cape Cod Whalers player was a force in the championship game, tallying two goals and an assist to help Hanover pile up seven goals at the Garden.
Congratulations to Ryan McArdle, Ryan Kisiel, and the entire Hanover team on the Division 3 State Championship. State of Hockey salutes you.
