It's official. Jack Queally and Sam Lee have been selected to the 2026-27 USA Hockey National Team Development Program Under-17 Team, the NTDP announced today. Out of 23 players chosen from across the entire country, two are from Massachusetts. Two kids who spent this season dominating Massachusetts prep hockey, leading their club teams to USA Hockey Nationals, and proving they belong on the biggest stages in American hockey.

Queally and Lee will leave their prep schools and club teams this fall to move to Plymouth, Michigan, for the NTDP's two-year residency program. They'll compete in the United States Hockey League against players up to four years older, represent the United States in international tournaments, and train alongside the best 2010-born players in America. This is the path that produced Auston Matthews, Jack Hughes, Patrick Kane, and Jack Eichel. This is the path that leads to the NHL.

Queally was the most productive 2010-born forward in Massachusetts prep hockey this season. A kid who originally began his hockey in Milton, MA before landing at St. Sebastian's, where he put up thirty-seven points at the top-producing prep school in the state. He did it as the centerpiece of the Neponset Valley River Rats, the #2 ranked 15U AAA club in Massachusetts, who won the Tier 1 State Championship and earned a trip to USA Hockey Nationals in Green Bay. At Nationals, Queally registered points in all three pool play games against the best teams in the country, including a game against #1 Honeybaked. He was the only River Rats player invited to the NTDP Evaluation Camp in March. Now he's one of 23 in the country heading to Plymouth.

Lee was the sniper from Belmont Hill who built his office on the right dot all season. Thirty-one points on the #1 ranked club team in Massachusetts, the Minutemen Flames, who went a perfect 3-0 in pool play at USA Hockey Nationals in Green Bay. When the Flames needed someone to deliver in the biggest moment of the tournament — a shootout against #4 Woodbridge — it was Lee who buried the winner. At Belmont Hill, he was part of the #2 ranked prep school for 2010 production with 85 combined points across its roster. Now Lee takes the next step to Plymouth.

What makes this selection even more remarkable is the journey both players took to get here. This wasn't just about one camp or one weekend. Queally and Lee built their cases over an entire season — through prep hockey, through club hockey, through a state championship, through Nationals, and through the NTDP Evaluation Camp. Every game mattered. Every point mattered. And when it came time for USA Hockey to pick 23 players out of the entire country, two of them were from Massachusetts.

Jack Queally and Sam Lee — from Massachusetts prep hockey to the USA Hockey NTDP. From St. Sebastian's and Belmont Hill. From the River Rats and the Flames. Two of 23 in the country. State of Hockey salutes you both. Plymouth is lucky to have you.

The 2026-27 NTDP U17 roster includes 23 players from nine states, with Minnesota leading the way with seven selections, Michigan with five, and Massachusetts tied with New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania with two each. Queally and Lee represent the only two players from the New England region on the roster.
