The 2025-2026 Massachusetts prep hockey season produced 577 combined points across 51 players and 23 schools. Two players — Jack Queally and Sam Lee — were selected to the USA Hockey NTDP Under-17 Team. Winchendon and Cushing won NEPSAC championships. The Minutemen Flames and Neponset Valley River Rats both represented Massachusetts at USA Hockey Nationals in Green Bay. It was a season to remember.

But the 2010 class isn't slowing down. Between now and December, there's a gauntlet of camps, tryouts, roster decisions, and school commitments that will reshape the landscape before a single puck drops on the 2026-2027 season. Here's the roadmap.

🇺🇸 CCM Performance / USA Hockey Pipeline
April 11 Complete
CCM Performance Open Tryout
The first step in the USA Hockey Boys Select 16 pipeline. Players from across the country competed for a spot on the festival roster. Results are in — we're waiting on the official Boys Festival roster announcement.
May 8-10 Up Next
USA Hockey Boys Select 16 Festival
The festival roster will reveal which Massachusetts 2010s earned a spot. This is where USA Hockey evaluators take their first long look at the next wave. For kids who made the open tryout, this is the proving ground. For the rest, summer tournaments are the next window.
May 16-17 Upcoming
Final 40 Camp
The festival cuts down to 40 players. Making the Final 40 is a serious distinction — it means USA Hockey sees National Team potential. We'll be tracking which Massachusetts players survive the cut.
🏒 Club Teams
March — April Complete
Club Tryouts
Spring tryouts are done. Players have committed to their club teams for 2026-2027. Some stayed put, some made moves. The full picture won't be clear until summer tournament rosters are posted.
June — August Upcoming
Summer Tournaments
The first big summer tournaments will reveal new club rosters. Players who switched teams during spring tryouts will show up wearing different jerseys. This is where we'll get our first real look at the reshuffled club landscape for the 2026-2027 season.
September Upcoming
Club Season Begins
Club hockey kicks off and rosters become official. New team dynamics emerge. Players who moved between the Flames, River Rats, Islanders, Militia, and other programs will start building chemistry. The early-season standings will hint at who's rising and who's rebuilding.
🏫 Prep School
May 1 Deadline
Prep School Acceptance Deadline
The traditional deadline for students to accept offers from prep schools. New commitments, transfers, and re-enrollments are finalized. Some families are making decisions right now that will change the 2026-2027 prep hockey landscape.
Fall Upcoming
Prep School Rosters Published
This is when transfers become official. Players who quietly committed to new schools over the summer will appear on prep rosters. New 2010s arriving at prep schools for the first time will surface. The 2026-2027 leaderboard starts to take shape before the season even begins.
December 2026 Upcoming
2026-2027 Prep Season Opens
Puck drop. New schools, new rosters, new storylines. The 2010 class enters its sophomore prep season — older, stronger, and with a full year of varsity experience behind them. State of Hockey will be tracking every point from day one.

What we already know: Jack Queally and Sam Lee are leaving Massachusetts prep hockey for the NTDP in Plymouth, Michigan. That's 68 combined points — gone. The top scorer in the class and the #3 scorer, both off the board. That creates opportunity. Someone will step into that void. The question is who.

Transfers between prep schools are expected. Players from Catholic school and MIAA programs exploring prep options is a trend that accelerates every offseason. And with club tryouts already underway, the rosters you saw at Nationals in March may look very different by September.

State of Hockey will be covering it all. Every camp selection, every confirmed transfer, every new commitment. The 2026-2027 season starts in December, but the story of the 2010 class doesn't take a break.

Stay tuned.
