This site covers young athletes, most of whom are minors. That is a responsibility, not a technicality. This page sets out exactly what we publish about a player, what we will never publish, where it comes from, and how a player or a parent can have it corrected or removed.
What We Publish

What We Never Publish
- Home address, town of residence beyond what a published roster prints, phone number or email address for any player
- Full date of birth. We publish birth year only
- Photographs of players without the permission of the player’s parent or guardian
- Medical, injury or health information of any kind
- Academic records, grades, test scores or disciplinary information
- Family, financial or personal circumstances
- Social media handles or any other means of contacting a player directly
- Speculation about a player’s character, conduct or personal life
We also do not accept or publish user-submitted comments, ratings or messages about players. The site has no comment system, no forum and no user accounts — deliberately, because those are the features that turn coverage of minors into harassment.
Where It Comes From
Every field above is compiled from already-public sources: published school and league statistics, published tournament rosters and scout books, USA Hockey camp announcements, junior league draft results, and public commitment announcements. We do not obtain information from private team communications, parent groups, school directories or any restricted source, and we do not collect information from players themselves.
Removal and Correction Requests
Any of the following may ask us to correct or remove information about a player:
- The player
- A parent or legal guardian
- A school or club acting on the player’s or family’s behalf
How to make a request
Email mike@stateofhockey.us with “Player Removal” or “Player Correction” in the subject line. Include the player’s name, the school or club so we can identify the right person, and your relationship to the player. That is all we need.

What removal means
- The player is removed from our source record, which removes them from every leaderboard, tracker, table and profile page on the site
- Their name is removed from the body of published articles, or the article is withdrawn where the player is its subject
- They will not be re-added, including in future seasons, unless the player or a parent or guardian asks us to
We cannot control third-party search engine caches or archives of pages that were live before removal. Where a request involves those, we will tell you which tool at the relevant search engine to use and we will not stand in the way.
Safeguards We Maintain
- No data collection from players. The site has no forms, no sign-ups, no accounts and no submissions.
- No sale or sharing of player information. Player data is never sold, licensed, or provided to advertisers, recruiting services, agents, advisors or data brokers.
- No advertising targeted using player information. Advertisers receive no player data of any kind.
- No comments, ratings or user-generated content anywhere on the site.
- No contact routes to players. We do not publish any means of reaching a player and we do not pass messages to players or families.
- Rankings are framed as opinion and are never presented as an assessment of a player’s character or worth. See our Editorial and Corrections Policy.
A Note for Parents
If you have a concern about how your child is described here — not just a factual error, but the framing, the emphasis, or the fact of being covered at all — write and say so. It will be read by the person who wrote it, and it will be taken seriously. The alternative to asking is that nobody knows.
