The Site
State of Hockey is an independent publication about Massachusetts prep school hockey. It is provided free of charge and is supported by advertising. There are no accounts, subscriptions or paid tiers.
Permitted Use
You may read, link to, and share pages from this Site freely. You may quote a reasonable portion of an article with attribution to State of Hockey and a link to the original page.
Restrictions
- Do not republish our data tables, leaderboards or ranking boards in full without written permission. Compiling them is the work; a link is welcome, a wholesale copy is not.
- Do not scrape or automatically harvest the Site or its underlying data sources.
- Do not use information from this Site to contact players, or to build recruiting, scouting, marketing or commercial databases.
- Do not use the Site in any way that is unlawful, or that interferes with its operation or another person’s use of it.
- Do not misrepresent your relationship to State of Hockey or present our content as your own.
Intellectual Property
Articles, rankings, page design, and the compilation and arrangement of data on this Site are the property of Mike Wallace and are protected by copyright. Individual factual data points — a score, a roster line, a draft selection — are facts and are not claimed as property; the compilation is. Team names, school names and league marks belong to their respective owners and are used descriptively.
Accuracy and Availability
We work to keep the Site accurate and current, but it is a one-person publication drawing on third-party sources that are themselves sometimes incomplete or wrong. The Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free. See our Disclaimer for what this specifically means for rankings, statistics and recruiting information.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mike Wallace and State of Hockey will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, opportunity, or reputation, arising out of your use of or inability to use the Site or your reliance on any information on it. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Third-Party Content and Links
The Site links to third-party websites and displays third-party advertising. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, products, services or privacy practices. A link or an advertisement is not an endorsement.
Advertising
Advertisements are identified as such and are separate from editorial content. Dealings with an advertiser are between you and that advertiser. See our Editorial and Corrections Policy for how editorial independence is maintained, and our Privacy Policy for how advertising affects data collection.
Player Information
Information published about players is governed by our Player Information and Removal Requests page, which includes the process for a player, parent or guardian to have information corrected or removed.
Changes
We may update these Terms. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version, and continued use of the Site after a change means you accept it.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts.
