Information We Collect Directly
Almost none. This site has no user accounts, no registration, no contact form, no comment system and no mailing list. We do not ask you to submit anything.
If you choose to email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to answer you and we keep the correspondence only as long as needed for that purpose and for any record of a correction or removal request.
Information Collected Automatically
Server logs
Our hosting provider, Netlify, automatically records standard technical information when a page is requested: IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, and the date and time of the request. This is used for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing errors. See the Netlify Privacy Policy.
Analytics
We use privacy-focused website analytics to understand aggregate traffic — which pages are read, how many visits a page receives, and roughly where visitors come from. This is reported to us in aggregate. We do not use analytics to build profiles of individual visitors and we do not attempt to identify you.
Content delivery and fonts
Some page assets are loaded from third-party content delivery networks, including cdnjs (Cloudflare) for a JavaScript data-parsing library and Google Fonts for typefaces. Loading these assets discloses your IP address to those providers. Data tables on this site are populated from a published Google Sheets export, which similarly involves a request to Google’s servers.

Data Retention
Server logs are retained by our hosting provider under its own retention schedule. Aggregate analytics are retained for as long as they are useful for understanding traffic trends. Email correspondence is retained only as long as needed to handle the matter and to keep a record of corrections and removal requests. Advertising cookies are retained under the policies of the vendors that set them.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these, email mike@stateofhockey.us. We respond within 30 days. Because we hold almost no visitor information, in most cases the honest answer will be that we hold nothing about you — and we will say so. Children’s Privacy
This website is intended for an adult audience — parents, coaches, scouts and recruiters — and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. There are no accounts, forms or submissions on this site through which a child could provide personal information.
This site publishes information about young hockey players, which is a different thing from collecting information from children. Both the standards we apply and the removal process available to parents and guardians are set out in full on our Player Information and Removal Requests page.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, email mike@stateofhockey.us and we will delete it.
International Transfers
This site is operated from the United States and its service providers and advertising partners may process data in the United States and elsewhere. If you access the site from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data protection laws differ from those of your own.
